What to expect at Invati Okanagan
Welcome to Invati Yoga! We are excited to have you join our community and embark on your yoga journey. Here's everything you need to know to make the most of your experience at our studio:
Before you arrive try not to eat or drink too much as yoga is meant to be practiced on an empty stomach. Out of respect to the other students, teachers and the space, please arrive clean, minimizing fragrances and with fresh clothing and yoga towels. Yoga is practiced barefoot and in comfortable loose or stretching clothing.
1. Arrive Early: We recommend arriving between 10-20 minutes before your scheduled class. This will give you enough time to check-in, set up your mat, and settle into the space. It's important to be punctual so that you can fully immerse yourself in the practice without feeling rushed.
2. What to Bring: Please bring your own yoga mat, towel, and water bottle. If you don't have a mat, don't worry! We have mats available for rent at the front desk for $2. Wear comfortable, breathable clothing that allows for a full range of movement. It's also a good idea to bring a small towel to wipe away sweat during the class.
3. Communicate with the Instructor: Let your instructor know if you have any specific concerns or injuries. They will be able to provide modifications or adjustments to ensure your safety and comfort throughout the class. Don't hesitate to ask questions or seek clarification if something is unclear.
4. Listen to Your Body: Yoga is a personal practice, and it's important to honor your body's limitations. If a pose feels uncomfortable or painful, modify it or take a break. Remember that yoga is not a competition, and everyone's practice looks different. Focus on your own journey and progress at your own pace.
5. Stay Hydrated: It's essential to stay hydrated before and after your yoga class. Hydration works best if you hydrate before and after class, not during. Hydration will help you maintain energy and prevent dehydration. Please be mindful in full classes by leaving your water bottle in the change room.
6. Breathe and Relax: Yoga is not just about physical postures; it's also about connecting with your breath and finding inner calm. Pay attention to your breath throughout the class and try to cultivate a sense of relaxation and mindfulness. Remember to take deep breaths and let go of any tension or stress.
7. Embrace the Experience: Yoga is a journey of self-discovery and self-care. Embrace the opportunity to explore your body, mind, and spirit through the practice. Be open to new experiences, challenges, and growth. Remember that progress comes with time and consistent practice. We are here to support you on your yoga journey. If you have any questions or need assistance, our amazing knowledgeable instructors are always available to support. We look forward to seeing you on the mat and sharing the transformative power of yoga with you.
