She Recovers
We are all recovering from something! SHE RECOVERS Foundation Sharing Circles are intended for women and non-binary individuals who are in or seeking recovery—to connect, learn, heal and share within a group of like-hearted individuals. These local community circles of support are recovery-focused, free to attend and voluntarily facilitated by a SHE RECOVERS Certified Professional. All races, sexual orientations, and those differences of life situations, backgrounds and abilities are welcome.
She Recovers Foundation Sharing Circle Kelowna is facilitated by She Recovers Coach Dawn Kuehn at Invati Yoga and Wellness in Kelowna. This event is free and spaces are limited. Getting To Know Your Nervous System
Getting to know your Nervous system.
And how to work with (not against) yourself in pursuing your goals.
Are you curious about your nervous system? What is it? How does it work? What do I do with it?
This small-group (limit 10), hand-on workshop is designed to expand your self-awareness and equip you with the knowledge and tools you need to:
Understand and connect with your own nervous system
Be less prone to distraction and aimlessness
Be less susceptible to the subconscious manipulation
Become better able to align your actions with your values and goals
Improve your ability to self-regulate in times of stress
Improve your self-compassion and self-confidence.
Learn how to pursue your goals with more ease and less "willpower"
You might be asking "what does the nervous system have to do with aimlessness, self-compassion, and willpower"?
Short answer: Everything. When your nervous system is activated, your ability to think, plan, and execute are severely handicapped. Conversely, when you learn how to consciously engage with your nervous system, and you practice this over time, you will begin to flow with life instead of fighting against it.
Is it hard for you to sit alone in silence? Do you tend to fill every spare moment with entertainment and distractions, even when you don't want to? Is it difficult or impossible to remain focused on working toward your goals? Your nervous system is likely playing a large role here. This workshop is your opportunity to learn the foundational knowledge you need to take control over your own body and eventually, over your own life.
On Sunday December 1 [1pm – 3:30pm], join us at Invati Yoga in Kelowna. This will not be a workshop where we all just sit around talking in serious voices. There will be lots of movement and exercises designed to help you integrate new information in a playful and productive way.
Please bring:
a yoga mat
some water
and a pen with some paper.
[To ensure the best experience for all, Space will be limited to 10 participants. Please sign-in directly through Invati to secure your spot].
Self-Investment: $30
Sound Bath - New Moon
Unwind in this candlelit New-Moon sound journey where you will experience deep states of relaxation, higher consciousness and healing.
The New Moon is a time to reflect and set intentions for the month ahead.
Using the power of sound, intention and guided meditation, we will bring you into a blissful journey of sound and relaxation, providing a much-needed escape from the stresses of everyday life. Sound healing works on both a physical and energetic level by entraining your brain waves to Delta and Theta states - these bring about deep healing, rest and restoration of the cells, just as when we get a long deep sleep. Receive the vibrational healing properties of sound. Leave feeling deeply relaxed, refreshed and renewed for the week ahead.
Please bring your own mat, and anything else to help you feel cozy (pillows, blankets, etc)
Investment in self: $28
30 Day Challenge - Handstands
In this workshop you'll discover everything you need to know to turn your practice upside down and balance on your hands. You'll get the guidance and confidence to challenge yourself and the tools to take back into class with you.
Mel's intention for this 30 day challenge is to encourage and support everyone to bring a regular practice of inversions into their daily lives.
They can be daunting to everyone and knowing how to get in to handstands can seem like its for others but not yourself. Handstands are known as the pose of fear. Knowing the benefits will give you the courage to give them a try.
They allow us to face our fears, increase circulation and energy levels, and strengthen muscles. It's also thought to promote emotional growth, calm the mind and spirit, guide energy toward the heart, and help you become more connected with the earth. Other benefits are:
alleviate stress and depression.
activate the pituitary and pineal glands.
stimulate the lymphatic system.
strengthen the upper body, spine, and core.
enhance lung capacity.
stimulate and strengthen abdominal organs.
boost digestion.
alleviate symptoms of menopause.
prevents headache.
Inversions are great confidence boosters. Every time you become a little stronger or you get to the next phase, this pose has the ability to remind you of your greatness. Remember the benefits are there for you no matter what type of inversion you do daily.
This is a private workshop for those participating in the 30 Day Challenge. Drop in pass available for purchase for non challengers. $ 30
